CONSULTATION & PATCH TEST REQUIRED PRIOR TO FIRST TREATMENT
It's a clinically proven, completely safe and effective treatment, which works by targeting the melanin (dark pigment) in the hair, which is converted into heat. This heat breaks down the hair follicle, reducing the opportunity for any re-growth and changes the entire structure of the follicle itself.
A full consultation and patch test is required to ascertain your suitability for the IPL treatment, before booking your first IPL treatment. It usually takes 30 mins and costs £30 non refundable fee which is redeemable against your first IPL treatment.

Does it hurt?
The sensation varies from person to person. No anaesthetic is required and many clients describe the discomfort as a warming sensation similar to the feeling one after a day on the beach. Hair removal and treatment of pigment and acne are really quite comfortable treatments. Treatment of blood vessels typically feels like a rubber band flicking the skin, followed by a feeling of gentle warmth.
Are there any possible sides effects?
A mild erythema/redness can appear immediately after the treatment or a few hours to a few days after. We recommend using pure Aloe Vera gel to soothe the skin. When treating areas of pigmentation it is normal for you to experience darkening of pigment in the treated area in the next few days following the treatment
Are there any contraindications?
There are a few contraindications, where you cannot be treated:
Pregnancy and breast fiddling (treatment can be done 3 months after)
Pacemaker, heart diseases
Liver or kidney diseases
Photosensitive medications (St. Jons Wort – Please consult your Doctor)
Conditions treatable (to be aware of ):
Semi-permanent make up / tattoos (treatment can be done avoiding the area)
Skin infections/broken skin (avoid the area)
Botox/Collagen injections (patch test can be done 2 weeks after and treatment can be done 2 weeks after the patch test)
Deep peel or laser resurfacing by a doctor (treatment can be done 6-12 months after)
Microdermabrasion (treatment can be done 2-4 weeks after)
Glycolic Peel/Chemical Peel (if done at the doctors –treatment can be done 3 months after; if done at the salon –treatment can be done 4 weeks after)
Is there any special aftercare?
Yes, wearing SPF (sun protection factor) minimum 30 and soothe your skin with Aloe Vera gel, if needed. We also recommend that you avoid using sunbeds and sunbathing for the next 30 days. And for 24-48 hours after treatment you should:
NOT use any perfume, perfumed products or makeup – unless it is 100% mineral make up
AVOID any form of heat (sauna, steam room, hot bath), swimming, gym
NOT touch, pinch and scratch treated areas
Is it safe and effective?
Clinical trials documenting Ellipse’s safety and effectiveness, were carried out by leading doctors prior to the release of the product and it has been in daily use for over 15 years, with – uniquely – a 10-year follow-up study showing long-lasting results.
